The Tiny Foreman

There are moments in life that remind us why we take risks, why we pour our energy into something bigger than ourselves, and why we keep going even when the path feels overwhelming. For me, one of those moments came when my two-year-old son Johnny stepped into the role of a “real” construction worker. His joy was so pure, his pride so radiant, that it felt as though the entire vision of AREA 42 had crystallized in that instant.

Watching him put on his hard hat and proudly join the building process wasn’t just adorable—it was a glimpse of what AREA 42 is truly about. It’s about belonging. It’s about creating a space where creativity flourishes, healing happens, and connection deepens with every event and project we take on together.

The journey has been stressful, expensive, and messy. There have been nights when I wondered if the dream was worth the chaos. But then Johnny’s laughter cuts through the noise, reminding me that every challenge is worth it.

These moments—filled with discovery and shared pride—are the heartbeat of AREA 42. We’re not just constructing a space; we’re nurturing a community where everyone belongs.

Johnny’s adventure may be small, but his joy captures the essence of it all: the belief that each of us has something valuable to contribute. His toy hammer, neighbors lending a hand, and the pride of watching dreams take shape remind me why I’m endlessly grateful—and why I look forward to many more moments on this journey.
