Preparation

What is new at AREA 42? Well, we now have plumbing! Next week, the concrete will be poured. While waiting, I am trying to stain some shelving to match this sexy bar that I got for the lounge, but I have never done anything like this before! The bar is redder than it appears in the photo, so I am starting with a dark cherry stain, then sanding some off. What color should I go over it with? Any advice for this project is appreciated!  Plz halp.

While most of the construction is complete, August 9th is cutting it close for the final pieces (ceiling, toilet, electric hookup -including A/C), and there won’t be time to decorate the interior the way I'd hoped.  That’s been a huge knot in my stomach.  I wish I could have it ALL finished by then, and I feel really bad for letting you down.  I am sorry.

I AM doing my best, though. So many long days and restless nights... I want to thank Ryan, Tim, Lane, and Loop Art Services for putting their blood, sweat, and tears into this with me.  We've built something greater than any event venue - we've built friendships grounded in altruism, reliability, and grit. The kind that show up, stay late, and stand by each other when things get messy- and they've done just that. I appreciate these guys SO MUCH!

In short, I won't have the Grand Opening I wanted for you all YET, but instead of postponing again, I'm offering a Sneak Peak of what we're working on, August 9th. It won't be perfect. (It might not even be pretty).  But we have been working our butts off so I'm going to celebrate, damnit! This wild, unruly hair of a dream is coming to life more and more each day, and that’s something worth showing up for.
